Here is a chance for you to make science most fun for our children by volunteering to translate and illustrate Science books in Tamil.

Volunteers needed to

  • design and translate 24 Isaac Asimov books in Tamil, each with 5 chapters and around 30 pages.
  • design at least 1 illustration per chapter, i.e., 5 per book.
  • proof-read at least 10-12 books.
  • translating a new set of Perelman’s series on “Physics for entertainment”.

India Fellow 2017 – Applications Open Now!

India Fellow is a 13-month social leadership program. It includes working full time with a grassroots organization on a specific social issue. This, together with classroom training, peer sharing and mentor-ship empowers the fellows to find their leadership potential, shape careers, and in the process make a positive impact on our society.

Fellows through the duration of their journey, gain deep insights and develop varied perspectives into the country, it’s people and the functioning; whilst contributing meaningfully to the host organizations’ social change mission. Also they are supported by a strong alumni network and mentors in their pursuit.

Volunteers required for First Lego League training | Chennai

First Lego League is a program that supports children and youngsters in order to introduce them to science and technology in a sporty atmosphere.

The objective is to:

  • make children and youngsters enthusiastic about science and technology
  • to equip the participants with the idea of team spirit
  • to encourage children and youngsters to solve complex tasks in a creative way

We are looking for five volunteers. Following are the details:

Project : First Lego League  – training
No. of volunteers: 5 – 3 male and 2 female
Venue: Seva samajam – Pallipattu (close to IIT madras)
Time: 3-5 days in a week (4.30pm – 6.30 pm including Sat & Sun)
Duration: Till Jan 28
Others: Volunteers with interest in programming/Robotics/Computer knowledge/Engineers preferred

Kanthari training – Leadership for Social Change

Kanthari is an accredited “leadership for Social Change” vocational training Institute based in Trivandrum, Kerala, South of India. Kanthari offers a seven month experience-based preparation course for social change. The course is especially designed for social visionaries and cannot be compared with any other postgraduate study.

Kanthari’s seven month program will help participants develop all necessary skills to succeed as social change makers. The residential course starts in May each year and ends in December.

Requirements to apply for the Kanthari program
– A social dream to create a mindset change in their community.
– Participants have to be at least 22 years of age or older
–  Basic knowledge in English (reading, writing and speaking)
–  Basic knowledge in using computer

Selected Participants will qualify for a scholarship.

Read a happy story to a kid this Daan Utsav and get inspired.

A beautiful reading activity where every person picks up a kid and reads a story on giving and also makes the kid read it. To the child, the activity is not just to stimulate the habit of reading but also to inculcate the value of giving. To the volunteer the activity is meant to be an eye-opener to the disparities in the education system in India.
