{"id":1556,"date":"2016-03-22T11:50:07","date_gmt":"2016-03-22T06:20:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/volunteers.org\/?p=1556"},"modified":"2016-03-22T11:50:38","modified_gmt":"2016-03-22T06:20:38","slug":"gramyamanthan2016","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/volunteers.org\/gramyamanthan2016\/","title":{"rendered":"Gramya Manthan 2016 | Fellowship"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/youthallianceofindia.org\/gramya-manthan-2015\">Gramya Manthan<\/a>,\u00a0a\u00a0nine day rural immersion journey\u00a0with 30 passionate change agents\u00a0to remote villages in\u00a0<strong>Kanpur Dehat, Uttar Pradesh, India<\/strong>.\u00a0 This is the 5th annual Gramya Manthan program hosted by\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/youthallianceofindia.org\/\">Youth Alliance<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The program aims at developing a deeper awareness of ourselves and the world around us by\u00a0following our curiosity and discovering new understanding by creating a space to learn, to observe and engage with the diverse realities of our world.<\/p>\n<p>The idea is also to bring ourselves into rhythm with the surprisingly complex realities and wisdom of rural life, allowing ourselves a platform to begin to think more holistically and to challenge our preconceived notions about Indian rural communities.<\/p>\n<p>The program has been enriched by interactions with<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Mr. Anshu Gupta &#8211; Founder, Goonj.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Mr. R. The facilitators co-create a space for each participant to express her\/his unique self as we learn together.\u00a0Learning happens in three ways-<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 We\u00a0learn\u00a0<strong>from each other<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 We learn\u00a0<strong>with each other<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 We learn\u00a0<strong>from our own self in the company of each other<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The focus of our experience is curiosity and understanding and serving with kindness.\u00a0Letting our \u201ccuriosity be greater than our criticality\u201d creates a context for new ideas to emerge from within. As we step past our preconceived ideas we push our imagination to hold a larger vision of a more just, cooperative and sustainable human world.
