{"id":1981,"date":"2016-09-20T13:52:50","date_gmt":"2016-09-20T08:22:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/volunteers.org\/?p=1981"},"modified":"2016-09-20T13:58:27","modified_gmt":"2016-09-20T08:28:27","slug":"ywca","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/volunteers.org\/ywca\/","title":{"rendered":"Spoken English Course by YWCA | Chennai"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <strong>Spoken English Course<\/strong> conducted for underprivileged women is part of the Urban Community Development Program by the <strong>YWCA of Madras<\/strong> at poonamalle high road.<\/p>\n<p>The women come from diverse backgrounds and need to improve their communication skills to gain self-confidence or become efficient in their respective jobs and some wish to help their children with their homework. They are mostly in the age group of 20-40 with varying levels of communication skills.<\/p>\n<p>The modules \u00a0to be taught are fun based and easy to follow for any volunteer and can be effectively implemented on the spot.<\/p>\n<p><strong>YWCA needs volunteers for the following positions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>1)Training under-privileged women on spoken English\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Preferably middle aged or retired women<\/li>\n<li>Volunteering at the YWCA premises &#8211; Poonamalle high road- near Dina Thanthi office<\/li>\n<li>Voluteers will follow prescribed fun based modules<\/li>\n<li>To\u00a0commence work from October onwards<\/li>\n<li>Individual may commit for two hours every week or alternate weeks<\/li>\n<li>Good\u00a0command over English language to engage the underprivileged women ( 20-40 age group) who need to improve spoken English skills as a confidence building measure and to communicate in\u00a0their respective professions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Time:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On Fridays :\u00a0<span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_180966411\"><span class=\"aQJ\">2pm -4 pm<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>On Saturdays: 11am-1pm or\u00a0<span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_180966412\"><span class=\"aQJ\">2pm-4pm<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><u><\/u><strong>2)Creating grammar syllabus &#8211; Work from home\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Only 10 lessons to cover rudimentary knowledge on topics like noun, verb, adjective, etc as part of a spoken English program to teach underprivileged women.<\/li>\n<li>Each lesson to comprise of 3 sheets only with one or two activity sheets for practise purposes.<\/li>\n<li>Anyone with BA\/MA English literature would be suitable.<\/li>\n<li>This is an online job and individual may meet up once or twice to discuss and fine-tune the requirements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>3)Formatting an already existing spoken English module &#8211; Work from home\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Make the English module more\u00a0presentable and bring in uniformity for printing purposes.<\/li>\n<li>Anyone with basic knowledge in print media or well-versed in publishing software can easily accomplish this job.<\/li>\n<li>This is an online job and individual may need to meet only once or twice for discussion and fine-tuning the requirements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLScaOq-oKozoAXuO4-BUioB1U7TAnU3ldT0SJ-rJXQdNHKPr7g\/viewform?embedded=true\" width=\"760\" height=\"1400\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\">Loading&#8230;<\/iframe><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Spoken English Course conducted for underprivileged women is part of the Urban Community Development Program by the YWCA of Madras at poonamalle high road.
